Drivers may not see your motorcycle this spring

One of the biggest reasons that motorcycle accidents continue to happen is just that drivers don’t see the bikes until they hit them. As a rider, you may find this astounding, but it has been shown in many studies. In fact, a lot of these studies note that the bikes in question are in plain view. They’re obviously there, not hidden by anything like another vehicle or a feature of the road. Drivers absolutely should see them, but they don’t. They are taken by surprise and they cause accidents. The increased danger in the spring There are a lot of reasons why this happens, and part of it is just that drivers don’t spend a lot of time looking for motorcycles to begin with. They’ve been conditioned to look for vehicles like the ones that they’re driving, meaning passenger cars and trucks. It may not even dawn on them to look for a smaller, fast-moving vehicle. This gets even worse in the spring in Michigan because you’ve had a long lull in the motorcycle season. When there are snow and ice on the roads, it’s simply not safe to ride, so people put their bikes away until the next year. As soon as spring begins to break, these bikes come back out, but drivers are even less prepared to deal with them than they would be on a regular basis. They haven’t looked for motorcycles in months (if they do it all), and this can increase the accident rates at the beginning of the new season. If you do get hit on your motorcycle, you could suffer life-changing injuries. Make sure that you know how to seek proper financial compensation from the driver who caused the crash.
